Boo to you, Ms. George

I bought this book because I loved the books Elizabeth George has written before.

What a mistake! This book reads as if she's tired of all her characters and wanted to smash their lives to bits, which she effectively does by killing off an essential and beloved character in a way that's unconnected to the rest of the plot but that punches a hole in her cast.

What's wrong with Elizabeth George? The book feels like a wanton act of destruction. Surely this master plotter could have come up with a better way to get the Lynleys offstage. Boo to you, Ms. George.
