Reads Like It?s Real THE KITE RUNNER by Khaled Hosseini reads like a memoir, although it isn't. In that sense it rivals CATCHER IN THE RYE and MY FRACTURED LIFE for the striking realism, although it is a far different story. Hosseini sets his story in Afganistan and paints a story of the struggles of friendship to cross social class lines, and the ramifications on self when succumbing to class pressure. A truly brilliant, often educational book.
