Captivating and thrilling Even though it is a historical fiction, this is a very good book to read. True that some of the points he wrote about were true. But we should know that this is open to interpretation. What is also important is that as readers, we should be able to discern... more
Brilliant!!! I would like to give an online standing "O" to Dan Brown...the DaVinci Code was Brilliant Brilliant Brilliant!!! I couldn't put it down. I isolated my friends and family for about a week reading this novel. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I suggest everyone... more
Ae Educational Read! I have finally bought and read (in 2 days!) The Da Vinci Code and I am glad I did.
When released here in Australia, it created a storm of controversy. I simply found it incredibly educational reading, and while not being overly religious, it gave... more
The Illustrations are important. I loved, loved, loved this book. I thought the plot was wonderful, I cared about the characters & best of all I learned about things I never knew.
Mostly I'm writing this to let others know that if you are going to buy this book, you might... more
Formulaic, Manipulative and Entertaining. There is little left to say about a book that will likely sell more copies in a few years than most divine texts throughout their history. While I don't mind a little kicking against Rome from time to time, I must say that many a soul has gotten lost... more
Great Book This piece was one of the best books I've read in a long time. Since I go to school and barely have time to read, when I do, I get so engrossed in it that I find myself reading at rapid paces and unable to put the book down. Dan Brown has done a fantastic... more
The Da Vinci Code, Special Illustrated Edition What can I say, this book opened me eyes and mind for alot of things, about the world I both am and am not apart of. This book is fantastic, for people who know everything and nothing. I would recommend it. It is one of the best books I have every read.more
Best book I've read in a long time !! A dear friend gave me Dan Brown's "The Da Vinci Code" for Christmas last year. He said it was such an interesting read, and was sure I would love it. I started reading the book Thursday morning on the train, got completely hooked after a few pages, and... more
Pictures in color always make it better The theory put forth in this book is intriguing. I like a conspiracy as much as the next person, I guess. But, what I was really looking for was the secret of the creation. Why was Christ sent here? Why did the Watchers come and wreck everything God... more
Martin Luther Where Art Thou? I received this beautiful book as a gift and it is a grand complement to the paperback version. With the Special Illustrated Edition on your lap you no longer need to look up all the magnificent works of art and Renaissance architecture since all the... more
Sparked new interests and search for knowledge! Yeah yeah, it's "fiction", I get it. And, sure, in fiction referencing pieces of historical fact, you have to take "fact" w/a grain of salt or at least check out whether or not it's completely factual for yourself. But that's all besides the point! I... more
Exciting read filled with art, math, and some pseudo-history Upon recommendation (from such reviews), I got the illustrated edition of Da Vinci Code, and now I am so glad I did. Because without the pictures, I would imagine it would be a little difficult to proceed without feeling overwhelmed by too many references... more
Either buy that or wait for the film... How can you be fair (and fairly be critic...) without been thought an integrist?...
The problem with this work of fiction, and enphasis is put on FICTION, is the subject... You see, if you criticize the poor level of craftmanship as a thriller,... more
Nothing more than fiction First of all, in regards to all the hype surrounding the 'revelations' in Brown's book all I have to say is: It's fiction, folks!! Nothing more than light entertainment. He may use actual works of art and architecture, but the rest is fantasy. Even... more

I couldn't put it down! I'd been wanting to read "The Da Vinci Code" for a while. When my fiance surprised me with the illustrated edition, I was happy that I'd finally get a chance to read the book, but I also didn't understand why there was an illustrated edition available.... more
Great thriller! I was glad that Dan Brown decided to come out with a "Special Edition" with pictures. It made the reading a bit easier (Easier to picture the place/views in my head). I really enjoyed this book. And would highly recommed it. I can't wait till the sequel... more
Illustrations Helpful and Interesting If you are deciding between the illustrated and normal versions of this book I would recommend the illustrated. My only complaint about the illustrations is that the "last supper" is spread out on two pages with the crease in a critical location.

why can't I give this no stars? I mean, come on... there has to be 0 as a default right? No? Oh well.
Anyway, back to the review. This is book is tosh. Forget the actual proposition, which I forget now. How could one get even halfway through it?
I was guffawing... more
