Daughter Insight and Young Women Too
I enjoyed reading the book as it is special to our family. We have been dealing with eating problems with our teen daughters for over two years. The medical insight and sound advice Dr. Northrup has offered has helped us better understand our outlook on the situation as well as the challenge itself. Some of the more focused words of wisdom for practical use are folded into the lines and messages of each area. I wished those were listed in a group after each chapter or even in the beginning. They are little nuggets that parents need to read and that daughters, even if they consider themsleves young women, need to hear. When parents are faced with daily confrontation on so many levels, and still have other kids in the house to deal with too, stress is simply over whelming. I can tell the twins to read certain pages and ask their response and blame anything they want to argue about on the book instead of us as the parents, especially me, the mom. It helps me not to be the constant scapegoat. We have a long road ahead but this book certianly has been timely in our lives. I have read many books and am a book junkie. With so many years between our twins and the rest of the kids, I am always looking for anwers and support to my decision to give up my career and make my family and raising my kids the thrust of my life. I would also like to suggest another book that helps with the younger kids, Mommy CEO, by family/health expert, Jodie Lynn, it has saved face many times in our household. I owe plenty to both authors in helping me keep my sanity intact especially when I need to role model for the younger children. It's not easy but raising responsible kids isn't a slacker job.
