A Too Cute-sy One Note Symphony When Greg Behrendt uttered the now-famous words "He's Just Not That Into You," cash registered jingled in every bookstore in America. Or they should have. Behrendt was a "consultant" to "Sex in the City" where Liz Tuccillo was a writer, and Behrendt spoke the memorable phrase in a writers' meeting. Since consultant and writer for "Sex in the City" are as good credentials as any for dating advisors, Behrendt and Tuccillo went ahead and did an advice book made up of variations on a theme: Eleven chapters that all start with "He's Just Not That Into You If..." Really. Talk about a one note symphony... Well, clearly, Behrendt and Tuccillo hit a nerve. Or more precisely, Behrendt did with his off-the-cuff utterance. It's likely the smartest thing he ever said -- certainly worth the most. Behrendt looks like an over-baked surfer who took too many drugs. But he does seem to have the male mind nailed down. Or at least, some of the male minds. Behrendt and Tuccillo's theme is if a guy is "into" a woman, he'll pursue her, keep in close contact, want to have sex her, and essentially be on his very best behavior. He will NOT not ask you out, not call, not date, not want to have sex, have sex with someone else, only want to see the woman when he is drunk, not want to marry her, break up with her, disappear, be married, or be a jerk, a bully or a freak. OK, that's the book. Now you know, and you don't have to buy it. P. S. I also found the layout too cutesy for words. It's pretty insulting to an adult woman's intelligence.
