Great book, my son is a wonderful sleeper.
I got this book as a gift while still pregnant. I followed it to a tee. My son is now almost 3 and is the best sleeper! He will sometimes tell ME it is time for him to go to bed! The one thing is that I was a stay-at-home mom, so I don't know how it could work any other way unless the child's provider reads it. I was coined the "sleep nazi" by my family because I was and still am all about Gregory's sleep, but have laxed a little. There have been days when he hasn't had the best nap or if we have traveled somewhere, he will fall asleep for a liitle bit. That may seem extreme but he is very well-behaved. Thios is in contrast with his 3 year old cousin who has never had a consistant bedtime. He is often cranky and unpleasant. I am a firm believer that the better the sleep, the better behaved the child. As far as the concern for crying out. I had to do that twice. I don't think I would have been able to handle it anymore than that but I tried it. The first time he cried for 30 minutes. It was hard, but I stuck with it. The second time it was 15 minutes. So with that, it kept decreasing to no more than a few minutes, then none at all. So I wouldn't say Gregory has been devastated or anything. Gregory alo started sleeping through the night at 7 weeks so we were very persistant and lucky.
