Let the buyer beware.
Truss's book is a disappointment for Americans who love the subtleties of grammar, punctuation, and good editing. Her inconsistent picking and choosing of the rules makes no sense. A warning for students: do not buy this book as a guide, and don't follow its examples when writing your papers unless you wish to see a sea of red markings along the margins. You'd be better off with Strunk & White or the unfailing Chicago Manual of Style.
