Superbly written, impeccably researched - OUTSTANDING!

This is a fantastic book! Having grown up in the Houston area, I was keenly interested in this story - from the pride I felt as a former Houstonian when Enron was considered an innovative, respected company, to the revulsion I felt as the story of deceit, arrogance and corruption unfolded.

Tagging along with Eichenwald into the board rooms, bars, mansions, private jets, hotel rooms and cubicles where the story happens is absolutely exhilarating!

This isn't just a business book, though. It is a book for everyone. The themes here aren't the dry, arcane corporate malfeasance of business scandal books, they are the age-old themes of Greek tragedy or Shakespeare - greed, power lust, hubris, secret fear of rejection, arrogance. The lessons here are the lessons not just of business, but of life. Now Eichenwald's not Shakespeare, but he pilots this book through hairpin turn after hairpin turn, and even though we know the outcome, the ride is still breathtaking.

It is obvious that there are a couple of people who have some sort of personal issue with the author and are trashing the book in their reviews here. They almost certainly didn't read the book. An inspection of Eichenwald's 43-page Notes and Sources section eliminates any credibility these reviewers might have. As I said in the title of this review, it is clear that this book was impeccably researched.

This is an absolutely thrilling page-turner. Buy it or borrow it - but READ IT!
