Mother Nature Rules Jared's expertise in this area of data gathering and analysis of human history is widely known and respected. I felt he could have looked even further back in time for answers, including the DNA evidence that shows humans were reduced to a population of only 2,000 after a major enviornmental disaster struck, most likely a super volcano that's also been in the news lately. No matter what Jared's observations of various human cultures and their means to adapt to changes, mother nature utlimately holds the key to the fate of modern humanity. Super Volcanos are destined to render humanity nearly, if not entirely, extinct. Since we clearly don't stand a chance to survive on earth in our human form after a super volcano eruption, maybe the lava flows from the super volcanos will somehow transform us into something new? (Brilliant reviewer, aren't I?) I think the main message from Jared's book is that mother nature is the ultimate force to reackon with on earth and will determine humanity's destiny. I have no problem with this at all. I trust mother nature's timing in determining the next phase of human's evolution, as she clearly has up to now. I understand why Christian fundamentalists want to destroy earth and all living things on it to ascend to heaven in the rapture, because they want to be free of trusting mother nature and evolution. They're control freaks, wanting their religion to control everything, and mother nature herself. It's a sad, unnatural state of being these religious zealots have landed themselves in, and they will have to learn the hard way, mother nature rules their destiny. These zealots can't control nature, but only in attempts to destroy it as the criminals they have become. They sense the end of humanity is near through some natural calamity (super volcanos), so they want to take control by writing history any way they can so that mother nature and her forces don't determine their ultimate fate as they stoop before her as the powerless, pathetic little men they really are. The super volcano's future eruption is going to solve the entire dispute over humanity's fate, throwing it all into the fire for a while. Forget about a nuclear war, if that doesn't destroy humanity, the super volcano eruption is destined to finish off humanity as it exists today, for once and for all to enter the next stage of whatever mysterious evolution she holds for it. Mother nature is ultimately going to chew up these pathetic little religious zealots that want to destroy and control her, and spit them out one day!
