A novel I truly enjoyed! I'm not going to summarize the plot, nor will I put forth the effort detailing the pros and cons of this book; I will simply encourage anyone who enjoys a good technical thriller, with ties to factual physical science and religion, to read this book.... more
Brown doesn't know much about Catholicism I hope I'm not giving away anything here, but near the end we're told that a certain two parties had a child together through artificial insemination, and therefore "commited no sin" under Catholic doctrine. Brown needs to check his catechism again.... more
High Spirited Fun!
Deep in the heart of a Swiss research laboratory, a brilliant physicist is savagely murdered on the brink of a groundbreaking experiment involving the origins of the universe - an experiment that could debunk religion in favor of science once and... more
Devilishly good I enjoyed this book greatly despite some of the negative things I've heard. True, it's not my usually cup of tea, and our book club doesn't usually read this type of thing, preferring instead something more "modern" and literary such as McCrae's CHILDREN'S... more
Disappointing and Ridiculous After reading the Da Vinci Code, I was very anxious to read Brown's earlier novel, but was disappointed by how shallow and predictable it turned out to be. I thought it contained interesting information about the Vatican, art and the Illuminati but the... more
Solid Dan Brown does it again Dan Brown's second book, ANGELS & DEMONS, rivals the fast pace he set with DIGITAL FORTRESS. Techies will love the antimatter and physics, and everyone will love the basic premise as well as the vivid detail that Dan Brown uses to bring the Vatican City... more
An amazing book I loved this book. I started reading Angels and Demons five days ago and I just couldn't put it down. I mean this book is great, it was suspenseful and the twists and turns. Maybe I'm stupid but I did not see the ending turning out like that. If you... more
Obvious, and ridiculous at the same time! Do people really like this? After the Da Vinci Code (which was OK if you don't believe any of Brown's "Facts."), I decided to read more of Brown's books. What a mistake. Although this one wasn't as bad a read as Deception Point (Should heve been called... more
Angels and Demons After reading the Da Vinci Code this was a little disappointing for me. The story structure was just about the the same, dead body with a message, clever professor and an intellectual damsel, difficult authority figures, race against time etc..
The... more

Robert Langdon's adventure Angels & Demons is the first book of Dan Brown's that i have ever read. i would have to say that this book was very well writen. it had just the right amount of fact combined with fiction. i must say that when i first say this book i was skeptical about... more
A thriller about secret societies Dan Brown's book about Robert Langdon, scholar "and international action hero", is entertaining, fast paced and abounds with intrigue and secret societies and junk science. While I enjoyed the book and found it hard to put down, my biggest problem with... more
predictable, but fun This book started off with an exciting premise - dead body, science, religion, all of it - but it was very predictable (yes, I've read the Da Vinci Code) - it wasn't that hard to determine who the bad guy was, who was going to be elected Pope, etc. -... more
Conflicts with church traditions No doubt about it, Dan Brown writes novels that are controversial. But for me, he has inspired me to want to read more about the history of Christianity. I know a little about the history of "The Book of Common Prayer." I'll just have to read some... more
superficial and sloppy, an insult to readers I'll concede this to Dan Brown and his fans: Angels and Demons is a page-turner, but the writer's heavy-handed foreshadowing quickly becomes irritating. In addition, the book is sloppy. Mr. Brown's Italian is atrocious. I believe that he also handles... more

great story i enjoyed this book, i coulnd't stop reading because there is just so much to be read and found out as the plaot develops. i gave it 4 instead of 5 stars because the last 60 pages or so stunk. the cardinal thing and all that was bogus and it got stretched... more
More Roman Catholic Bashing Here we go again. I read this book before I read the DaVinci Code; had I read the DaVinci Code first, and seen and read the reviews that exposed that book as a thinly-veiled anti-Catholic diatribe, I doubt I would have read Angels and Demons. If anything,... more
Opiate of the Masses This is one of the most painfully lame mass market paperbacks I have read.
In light of the rabid success of "The Da Vinci Code", I decided to read Dan Brown's works, starting with his first and ending with his most recent. What a colossal... more
Harris Tweed Conspiracy? Why was our hero, and "Harvard symbologist" Robert Langdon's Harris Tweed coat mentioned many times? So much so that I was expecting it to be used to pull him out of another cliffhanger. But given Brown's use of symbolism to make the most tenuous... more
