Alexander Hamilton
I will admit, my knowledge of the founding of our country is lacking quite a bit. My current reading regimen has me reading anything I can on our countries history. Thus this book is instrumental.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who has the slightest interest in reading about the infancy of America. Hamilton played a quintessential role in founding many policies and practices which our country still holds on to today. Although my personal political leanings don't align with most of his policies of a strong central government, he could undisputedly lay claim to helping America become a dominant figure in the world.
Most interesting is seeing a child come from nothing and ascend to the ranks which Hamilton did. It makes you wonder what has become of our politician now a day when you look at the expansive, mostly self taught knowledge which this young politician possessed. Reading this biography gives one the personal strive to better yourself as you see what self determination and drive can allow you to do.
Granted Hamilton had some major sidesteps in his life, the Alien and Sedation acts were dark times which he used vigorously against the Republican opponents. I guess you can't expect every man to be perfect.
Once again, I highly recommend this book to everyone. It is expansive and detailed, one of the best biographies I have read by far. Mr. Chernow did a stellar job with this work.
